Three Anniversaries of Russia

On September 8, 2025, at 19:00, in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky will host a concert of the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev.

The program «Three Anniversaries of Russia» is dedicated to significant dates: the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the 130th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Yesenin and the 125th anniversary of Isaak Dunaevsky.

This is the second performance in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory by the legendary orchestra in its modern history. The tour is supported by the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg. For the first time in almost 90 years, the ensemble will return to this stage in September 2023 with a program dedicated to the orchestra’s 135th anniversary. The concert was a sell-out and received rave reviews from the public.

On September 8, the first part will feature a suite from the film-ballet «House by the Road» by Valery Gavrilin. The musical numbers will be accompanied by a reading of Alexander Tvardovsky's poem, based on which the ballet was created. The reader is the Honored Artist of Russia, actor of the Alexandrinsky Theatre Semyon Sytnik.

The second section will be dedicated to the works of Sergei Yesenin and Isaak Dunaevsky. The suite «Our Lesser Brothers» by St. Petersburg composer Gennady Belov based on Yesenin’s poems will be performed by the soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, laureate of international competitions Alexander Mikhailov (tenor), as well as a concert waltz and overture to the film «Children of Captain Grant» by Dunaevsky.

At the conductor's stand is the artistic director, chief conductor of the Andreevsky Orchestra, People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Khokhlov.

«The choice of this program for the performance in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory was absolutely natural. These are works that are dear to us and which we are sure deserve special attention. Moreover, they have not yet been performed by our orchestra in Moscow - it is a great joy to share this repertoire with the Moscow public. Of course, three anniversaries are a scale that cannot be fully covered even in three separate concerts. Our arrival in the capital is a significant and rare event, and the entire team tries to fill it with special content. We approach this concert with great internal responsibility. It is very important for us that all the meanings, all the moods, all the depth of this music reach the heart of every listener. We hope that this program will resonate in the souls of the public - as a memory, as a discovery, and as a reason for reflection», said Dmitry Khokhlov.

During the lifetime of the orchestra's founder Vasily Andreev, concerts in Moscow took place 11 times. The orchestra performed in the halls of the Noble Assembly, the Noble Assembly, the Sergievsky People's House, and the Zon Theatre.

Performances in Moscow were always a special event for the group. Vasily Andreyev held his concerts in halls that offered a serious artistic program, and the reviews of the performances of the circle and then the Great Russian Orchestra were always the most enthusiastic and surprised - the extremely well-coordinated, emotional playing of the circle, and then the orchestra, and the tastefully composed program did not leave the most demanding audience indifferent.

In the following century, the group performed on various stages in Moscow - in the Column Hall of the House of Unions, in the House of Music and others.

The concert on September 8, 2025 is a unique opportunity to hear a program that combines music, poetry and history performed by one of the most prominent representatives of the Russian orchestral tradition.

State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev is the first professional group in world history in which national instruments were united according to the principle of a symphony orchestra. The idea belongs to its founder, the outstanding Russian musician, composer and public figure Vasily Vasilyevich Andreev. Since its first concert performance on March 20, 1888, the Andreevsky Orchestra has been the pride and glory of Russian art and the pearl of world musical culture.
