Premiere of the oratorio «Winners!» live

On April 10 at 20:00 there will be a live broadcast of the premiere of the oratorio «Winners!» by composer Viktor Pleshak from the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D. D. Shostakovich.

This is a large-scale work written for the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V. V. Andreev, a reader, vocalists, mixed and children's choirs, is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and personifies the strength, courage and unbending spirit of the victorious people.

«The libretto of the new oratorio is based on poems by famous Russian and Soviet poets A. Tvardovsky, M. Isakovsky, A. Mezhirov, A. Fatyanov, E. Asadov, A. Akhmatova, L. Martynov, E. Yevtushenko and others. No less significant contribution to the writing of lyrics for songs was made by my contemporary friends, with whom I repeatedly worked on military topics: M. Dakhie, A. Shulgin, A. Lyadov, G. Georgiev. The main theme of the oratorio was the invincibility of the Soviet, Russian spirit. We did what seemed impossible! The musical language of the oratorio is song-like, «democratic», simple, but it is a masculine simplicity,» said composer Viktor Pleshak about the work.
