Music that unites: the power of art against hatred and terrorism

As part of the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures and the opening of the 137th season, the Andreevsky Orchestra presented a new program, «Music Unites Nations,» dedicated to the idea of the power of music to bring people together.

The ensemble performed under the direction of People's Artist of Russia, artistic director and chief conductor of the Andreevsky Orchestra Dmitry Khokhlov.

On September 18, in the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich, the program received another facet of sound. Particular attention that evening was given to the important topic of countering and condemning terrorism - a reminder that unity is necessary to prevent violence. The concert host emphasized how important it is to be together and unite for the sake of the future.

The music performed by the orchestra allowed the audience not only to enjoy art, but also to feel the power of art, which can withstand cruelty and destruction.

The program included works by V. Andreev, A. Lyadov, A. Glazunov, I. Brahms, M. Ravel, G. Rossini, I. Sibelius, M. Theodorakis and others.
