The team is taking part in the «We are Russia» program for the first time.

On October 5, 7, 9 and 10, the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev performed with the concert program «135 years of the Andreevsky Orchestra» in Yaroslavl, Vologda, Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk. The concert program «135 years of the Andreevsky Orchestra» included Russian folk songs and works by Russian and foreign composers.

In Yaroslavl, the famous group gave concerts back in the late 19th century (tour of 1891 and 1895). The Orchestra visited Vologda several times; its first performance in this city took place in 1918, during a trip to the Red Army fronts.

The group performed in Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk for the first time. The Andreevsky Orchestra is the first professional group in the history of musical culture in which national instruments were combined according to the principle of a symphony orchestra. The idea belongs to its founder, the outstanding Russian musician, composer and public figure Vasily Andreev. The group's first concert performance took place on March 20, 1888. Since then, the Andreevsky Orchestra has been the pride and glory of Russian musical art.

Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Andreevsky Orchestra, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Khokhlov: «We presented the public with an anniversary program. It is structured in such a way as to show the time frame of the team’s development. First, simple and touching folk melodies were performed, followed by complex pieces, masterpieces of Russian classics. For example, the famous «Magic Lake» by Anatoly Lyadov. We thank the audience for the warm welcome and vivid emotions, which I personally and the entire orchestra greatly appreciate, this is something we value very much.»

«For an orchestra, trips and tours are very important. We continue Andreev’s work, his legacy. In addition to reviving the Russian balalaika and creating an orchestra, he devoted a huge amount of time to popularizing national musical traditions. His ensemble traveled extensively throughout Russian cities. We are grateful to the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Federal State Budgetary Cultural Institution ROSCONCERT for including our tour in the «We Are Russia» program, which gave us the opportunity to meet the amazing audiences of Yaroslavl, Vologda, Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk. «It is very important for us to share our skills with the residents of these cities and show them real Russian art,» emphasized the orchestra’s director, Sergei Velichkin.
