Nikita Yakovlev
Artist of the second bass domras group, soloist of the orchestra

Born in the city of Tikhvin, Leningrad region. In 2005 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Music College named after M.P. Mussorgsky in two specialties: domra bass, in the class of Honored Cultural Worker of Russia N. A. Shubin, and conducting, in the class of L.I. Savich. He continued his studies in both specialties at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, which he graduated from in 2010. A recipient of numerous international awards, he received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture of the Governments of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region while he was a student. Since 2004 – artist and soloist of the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V.Andreev.

Nikita Yakovlev is a skilled player of the bass domra, mandocello and string plectrum bass. Pays great attention to historically oriented performance. In 2012-13 he studied at the Saint Petersburg State University in the Department of Historical Performance under the guidance of professors I.V. Rozanov (study of ancient treatises), A.P. Milky (ancient counterpoint) and V.V. Azarova (methodology of scientific research). He also studied the interpretation and performance of Renaissance and Baroque music in Hanover and Brussels.

Сollaborates with top artists to present a range of chamber concert events at the top performance venues in St. Petersburg and outside the country. Additionally, he actively participates in initiatives pertaining to Baroque music performance. Member of the Union of Concert Workers of St. Petersburg.
