Marina Fonina
Honored Artist of Russia, plucked gusli, orchestra soloist

Received a musical education in St. Petersburg. Studied at the Music College named after M. P. Mussorgsky (domra class of E.A. Sheinkman and Z.I. Stavitsky) and the Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, which she graduated with in two instruments: the domra class of Professor I.I. Shitenkov and the class of ringing gusli of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR V.N. Tikhov. Since 1990 – soloist of the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V.Andreev. Since 1997 he has been performing in the ensemble of soloists of the group under the direction of Vladimir Fonin.

Marina Fonina is a virtuoso musician of several Russian instruments, including ocarinas, domra alto, zhaleikas, Vladimir horns, ringing gusli, keyboard and plucked instruments, and traditional Russian percussion instruments. She also has a bright playing talent and a dazzling temperament.

Her teaching efforts also demonstrated the diversity of her talent. She brought up a lot of musicians while working at the M. P. Mussorgsky Music School and Music College. Takes part in regional and worldwide competition juries.

She was awarded the silver medal «For the Preservation of Russian Musical Culture» and is a member of the Union of Concert Workers of St. Petersburg.
