Glafira Machikina
Artist of the second small domras group

Born in Saint Petersburg. She first became acquainted with the domra at the age of 6 at the St. Petersburg Children's School of Arts named after M.L. Rostropovich. Education continued at the St. Petersburg Music College named after M. P. Mussorgsky in the class of T.E. Kostyana, and then at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia, Professor A.V. Makarov. During her years of study she became a laureate of international competitions. In 2010 she was accepted into the small domras group of the Andreevsky Orchestra.

Glafira Machikina is a virtuoso player of the small domra and mandolin. She has collaborated with the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic for Children and Youth, the M. P. Mussorgsky-named St. Petersburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (Mikhailovsky Theatre), and chamber ensembles.

She pays great attention to the work on preparing collections of works by contemporary composers and is a co-author of a methodological manual for a duet of small domra and guitar.
