Andrey Kotyagin
Artist of the balalaikas bass group

He received his musical education at the Vitebsk Music College named after I.I. Sollertinsky and the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, where he studied in the class of Professor A.B. Shalov. He was admitted to the Andreevsky Orchestra's prima balalaikas group in 1986. He subsequently moved to the bass balalaika and became an expert player.

Since 1997, he has performed as part of the ensemble of soloists of the orchestra under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Fonin on the double bass balalaika. As a soloist of the ensemble, he performed at the best concert venues in the world.

He was awarded the silver medal «For the Preservation of Russian Musical Culture» and is a member of the Union of Concert Workers of St. Petersburg.
