Alexander Shchipitsyn
Honored Artist of Russia, concertmaster of the balalaika group, soloist of the orchestra

He was born in Perm. In 983 he graduated from the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), where he studied under renowned masters Professor A. B. Shalov and Honored Artist of Russia M.A. Danilov. Alexander Shchipitsyn was invited to join the prima balalaikas group as the lead conductor of the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev while still a student due to his exceptional talent and artistry. He later led the orchestra for a number of years. Since the late 1990s, he has been a member of the Ensemble of Soloists of the Andreevsky Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Fonin, as part of which he has performed with invariable success in the best halls of the world.

The musician’s creative biography is inextricably linked with his teaching activities. Alexander Shchipitsyn teaches special balalaika classes at the Saint-Petersburg Music College named after M.P. Mussorgsky and the Saint-Petersburg State Institute of Culture. Among his students are talented musicians, including the soloist of the Andreevsky Orchestra Natalia Sapunova.
