For the 220th anniversary of Mikhail Glinka

2024 marks the 220th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka. The composer is considered the founder of Russian national opera and classical Russian romance.

M.I. Glinka lived a short but bright life. The famous critic Vladimir Stasov spoke of him as follows: «In many respects, Glinka has the same significance in Russian music as Pushkin has in Russian poetry. Both are great talents, both created a new Russian language - one in poetry, the other in music.»

At a concert dedicated to the 220th anniversary, in the Chapel Hall, together with the State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev will feature soloists of the Samara Theatre «Shostakovich. Opera. Ballet», laureates of international competitions: Svetlana Kashirina (mezzo-soprano) and Stepan Volkov (bass-baritone).
