Birthday of the Andreevsky Orchestra

The Andreevsky Orchestra invites you to a concert on March 18 in the Great Hall of the Philharmonic, dedicated to the band’s birthday. 

On March 20, 1888, Vasily Andreev’s «Circle of Balalaika Lovers» performed, which marked the beginning of the creation of the Great Russian Orchestra. Since then, the orchestra of Russian instruments has come a long way in development and has widely developed its artistic capabilities.

This year, the Andreevsky Orchestra will celebrate its 136th birthday together with soloists of the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre. The concert program will feature pearls of music that have been accumulated throughout the history of the ensemble’s repertoire. The music of Vasily Andreev and his closest associate Nikolai Fomin, fragments from operas and romances of Russian composers, and masterpieces of world classics will be performed.
