Under the shadow of Russian ballet

Under the shadow of Russian ballet

State Academic Russian Orchestra named after V.V. Andreev invites you to a concert - a bright musical journey through the pages of classical music, inspired by dance.

The program includes images of oriental exoticism from M.P. Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, the temperament and grandeur of A.P. Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, the grace and orchestral brilliance of A.K. Glazunov.

A special place in the program is occupied by the first performance in the history of the orchestra of the suite from the ballet by A.K. Glazunov «Raymonda». This ballet is the pinnacle of Russian romanticism, created for Marius Petipa, full of knightly nobility, oriental exoticism and exquisite melodies. The concert suite brings to life scenes of palace celebrations, the heroine’s dreams, and Hungarian and Moorish dances. In the adaptation for a folk orchestra, the ballet score takes on new colours and intonation.

Conductor: Evgeny Khokhlov.
